DELIVERANCE THROUGH THE CROSS.

1Peters 2:24-25
”He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
Today’s text reveals that through Christ’s death on the cross, those who turn to Him are delivered from both the penalty and the power of sin. In other words,the solution to the problems of sin and evil is in the cross of Christ.
The significance of the cross is in two-fold. The first is as a symbol while the second is as an event. As a symbol, the cross symbolizes the atoning death of Jesus Christ and as an event it is what actually happened when Jesus was hung on the cross to die for the sins of the whole world. On the surface, it seems like a tragic event but the surface picture is far from the reality of what transpired on the cross. The cross has significance as a reminder of what Jesus did for us. It is a powerful symbol to remind us of the price paid for our redemption.
On the cross, Jesus dealt with our sin, canceled our indebtedness, and gained victory for us to live a life of freedom. On the cross, Jesus defeated his enemies and was enthroned as king. In the entire history of the universe, there is no any event that has more significance than the cross and what took place that day. This is probably why Apostle Paul,in Galatians 6:14, having looked at his life and all he had accomplished, said “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world”
Beloved of God,the cross of Christ is at the heart of Christian faith and the most recognizable symbol of Christianity.It reveals to us the character of God particularly His love and justice.The cross is the place where all the wounds of sin are healed. To those who suffer from emotional problems like guilt, anxiety, depression, anger, or whatever, there is healing in the cross of Christ. If you are going through any form of tragedy or suffering, there is comfort in abundance as you contemplate the sufferings of the spotless Savior on the cross.
Prophetic Prayer
I pray for you today:
1. May the yoke of sin be broken upon your life in the name of Jesus.
2. You will receive forgiveness for your sins
3. The cleansing power of the blood of Jesus will purge
and purify you from every demonic contamination
4. This season,the Lord will visit you with the power of the cross.
5. He will vindicate you and terminate your fears.
So shall it be in the name of Jesus. Amen
